Get rid of the unpleasant feeling caused by poorly performed nose surgery
Whether it is a bad appearance, tissue deformation or new breathing difficulties, our goal is to provide you with the most natural and beautiful appearance of the nose with proper breathing.
Despite the rapid development of plastic surgery in the last 50 years, certain procedures are still considered risky ventures due to their complexity, which often do not meet the expectations of many people who have undergone them. Among such procedures, rhinoplasty is in the first place.
Aesthetic nose surgery is the most demanding plastic surgery due to exceptional individual differences in the anatomy of the nose itself – no two noses are the same in the world. If we take into account the carelessness of previous surgeons or the outdated method of the procedure, it is not surprising that more and more clients are turning to us to perform revision rhinoplasty.
Secondary nose correction is a type of surgical procedure that we try to correct errors and deformities that have arisen from previous rhinoplasty, so we have gathered a team of experts at the Lohuis Filipović Polyclinic who will carefully check and determine the reason for your dissatisfaction.
Whether it is a bad appearance, tissue deformation or new breathing difficulties, our goal is to provide you with the most natural and beautiful appearance of the nose with proper breathing.
Unlike primary rhinoplasty, which shapes bone and cartilage tissues, secondary nose correction requires a more complex approach to the reconstruction of lost tissue.
Due to the changes that have already occurred, it will sometimes be necessary to remove scar tissue or reshape damaged cartilage, and in more demanding cases, even completely reconstruct the nose by adding cartilage from other parts of the body (ear, rib).
Precisely because of the need to correct the resulting deformities and reconstruct tissues, revision rhinoplasty is a much more demanding surgical procedure than primary rhinoplasty.
Fortunately, by using many years of experience and the development of personal techniques of modern preservative rhinoplasty, we treat the resulting deformities on your nose with much greater precision, and due to the minimal impact on the surrounding tissue, we ensure faster recovery and better final results.

The goal of revision rhinoplasty is to improve the appearance of the nose after previous unsuccessful corrections. In order for the revision rhinoplasty to be as successful as possible, it is necessary to assess well how the error occurred in the previous procedure.
Some of the mistakes of primary rhinoplasty can occur due to poor assessment of the original problem, poor surgery technique, but also the occurrence of unpredictable complications such as healing, bleeding and infections.
As a rule, there are several defined deformities due to which you can be included in the list of candidates for the implementation of secondary nose correction:
Understanding the current condition of the nose is crucial for approaching surgery. Our surgeons will take into account all your wishes after consultation in order to make a detailed surgical plan.
In order for you to get acquainted with the concept and idea of the final results, we will do a preoperative visualization of the nose. The resulting visualization will facilitate our operation and direct us towards achieving the desired goal.
Since revision rhinoplasty is performed under general anesthesia, it is necessary to take safety measures to ensure that the procedure proceeds without adverse reactions, which is why we conduct laboratory examinations and anesthesia tests.
In addition to physical examinations, we also conduct consultations where we comment on your previous experience with surgeries. This is the right time to ask us all the questions you are interested in about the procedure.
In addition to the surgery itself, we will also discuss your previous issues and advise you in case you are already using certain medications that can affect blood clotting, the so-called anticoagulants, which should be avoided at least 1-2 days before the surgery.
After we have gone through the surgery plan together, we determine the date of the operation and introduce you to the recovery process.
To feel as comfortable as possible before and after the surgery, come to us in comfortable clothes. Bring the medication you normally use and make sure you have a ride home.
On the day of the operation, after admission, our staff will prepare you for the procedure. While the surgeon goes through the surgery procedure with you once again, our anesthesiologist will prepare the operating room.
If you have specific questions related to the procedure or recovery, this is the right time to ask your surgeon.
When it’s ready, an anesthesia mask is placed on your face. Due to the action of general anesthesia, the operation will be painless and you will not remember anything.
We start the operation with a small incision on the lower part of the nose, which gives us access to all key areas of the nose. Depending on the anatomy of the nose and your wishes, we shape the nose using the PIEZO ultrasound device.
Thanks to the revolutionary PIEZO method, we successfully shape deformed tissue without trauma to the surrounding tissue. Ultrasonic energy focuses on a specific area of the nose, which avoids breakage and injury to an already sensitive area.
In addition to using the PIEZO device, we can add cartilage tissue from other parts of the body, most often the ear or ribs, to reconstruct the nose.
After we have shaped the nose, all internal segments are sewn and secured, followed by suturing the skin, placing nasal packs in the nose and aluminum patches on the nose itself.
After the operation, you will wake up in the operating room, and when you recover from waking up and the effects of general anesthesia, we will return you to the recovery room. Family members are then allowed to visit you. If you feel well, you will be discharged to home care after just a few hours.
In case of a longer recovery and a potential reaction to surgery, you will spend the night in our day hospital with 24-hour care by medical staff.
In the first 24 hours after surgery, minimal swelling in the area around the eyes is possible, which usually disappears after a week. Nasal packs will be removed from the nose within 24 hours of the operation.
We remove the tapes and stitches after a week and conduct an examination to see the progress in the treated area.
Return to work and daily activities can be expected 10-14 days after the operation. Playing sports and wearing glasses is possible 3 weeks after the procedure.
Although we take all measures to make the procedure as safe and efficient as possible before the operation, the possibility of adverse reactions is not excluded.
When performing revision rhinoplasty, the following complications are possible:
You will further comment on the possible risks of secondary nose correction during consultations with our team of surgeons.
