A procedure to eliminate frown lines and bring back a fresh, energized look
At the Lohuis Filipović Polyclinic, we perform eyebrow lift surgery to reposition your eyebrows and restore freshness and youthfulness to your face.
No matter how social or talkative we are, first impressions are often shaped non-verbally—through appearance. the eyes—and the area around them—play a key role in our first non-verbal interactions with others. .
Among the various facial expressions associated with our eyes, eyebrow expressions are often an underestimated segment of non-verbal communication.
Frowning, joy, surprise or sadness, these are all emotions that we can read only by observing the appearance and facial expressions of the eyebrows.
However, with age, the appearance of eyebrows can change significantly, creating wrinkles on the forehead, but also unwanted facial expressions that can leave a wrong impression in public.
As forehead muscles weaken over time, the position of the eyebrows may give us a permanently frowning or sad appearance.
In addition to a serious and angry appearance, weakened eyebrow muscles can create a strain on the upper eyelids with excess skin, making it difficult to blink and reducing your field of vision.
That is why at the Lohuis Filipović Polyclinic we perform eyebrow lift surgery to reposition your eyebrows and restore freshness and youthfulness to your face.
Browlift surgery has proven to be successful in eliminating all problems related to the appearance and function of your eyebrows. Our team of experienced plastic surgeons will perform one of three possible types of surgeries to restore a youthful look by smoothing forehead wrinkles and softening angry or sad expressions
The most advanced method is the ENDOSCOPIC EYEBROW LIFT – performed exclusively at our clinic in this region.
It is a modern way of raising eyebrows, most often only the edge, without visible cuts in the skin. The key to this procedure lies in modern endoscopic technology that allows us to release the eyebrow under camera control through a small incision before lifting it. In this way, we get a natural look, without stretching and without scarring.
Eyebrow lift surgery provides many benefits that can restore a youthful appearance and even out facial irregularities.
In addition to the fact that surgery mostly solves problems of an aesthetic nature, in some cases this procedure can also have functional purposes by opening your view and angle of vision.
Also, in some cases, people with headaches in the front part of the face, such as chronic migraines, may have significantly less pain after this type of surgery – then the surgery is called MIGRENE SURGERY.
These are some of the main advantages of browlift surgery:
By raising eyebrows, that sad look in the face is lost, and that youthful freshness that we all strive for returns, freshness is the key to a natural and good look
By lifting the eyebrows, we reduce the visible signs of aging by restoring your skin to a smooth and taut texture in the forehead area and surrounding areas. We successfully treat issues such as frown lines and vertical folds between the eyebrows, giving you a fresh and youthful look.
Drooping eyebrows that cover the upper eyelid can often go to extremes, reducing your field of vision. By raising your eyebrows, we create space for free movement of your eyes and improve your field of vision.
Asymmetrical eyebrows are one of the most common reasons why our clients undergo browlift surgery. Eyebrows can be very easily noticed when interacting with people, and any unevenness can be reflected in your appearance and attractiveness.
By raising your eyebrows, we get rid of these asymmetries and provide you with even and attractive eyebrows.
Properly performed browlift surgery leaves results that last for years after the procedure, and by maintaining physical activity and avoiding harmful habits, you can also prolong the effect of the treatment.
In order for the operation to go as successfully as possible and without subsequent complications, it is necessary to take appropriate precautions.
By adhering to the following steps and guidelines, we ensure that the results of the procedure will be effective and long-term:
Consultations are an unavoidable element of preparation for browlift surgery. In an interview with our team of surgeons, you will go through the surgery process, recovery and possible complications.
This is a good time to ask any questions you may have about the procedure.
Medications that affect blood clotting should be avoided due to the possibility of bleeding after the procedure, so-called anticoagulants such as Aspirin or Andol can slow down the healing process by preventing blood clotting.
We perform blood tests to see if there are certain disorders that would make the operation risky. Blood tests can identify disorders such as anemia, infection, coagulation disorders, but also liver and kidney diseases due to which surgery could not be performed.
Upon arrival at the polyclinic, we will place you in the recovery room where you will prepare for the surgery. Before you go to the operating room, our surgeon will talk to you once again, introducing you to the procedure of the operation.
During this time, our anesthesiologists will prepare the operating room and adjust the anesthesia ratio. When you are comfortably seated at the operating table, you will be given anesthesia after which we can start the procedure.
Eyebrow lift surgery can be performed in three ways:
This surgical technique uses an endoscope that has a small camera and special eyebrow lifting instruments at its end.
By placing the endoscope subcutaneously through small incisions in the scalp, we reach the eyebrows. Freeing the eyebrows from the periosteum of the orbit, we fix the new position of the eyebrows with a slight pull, after which we close the incision with stitches.
This technique is less invasive, state-of-the-art and leaves no visible traces and is performed exclusively in our clinic in this part of the region. It is a modern way of raising eyebrows, most often only the edge, without visible cuts in the skin.
The key to this procedure lies in modern endoscopic technology that allows us to first release the eyebrow under camera control through a small incision before lifting it. In this way, we get a natural look, without stretching and without scarring.
Also, with this technique we can lift the entire eyebrow, not just its outer edge or when we have a patient with a headache and we want to get rid of the headache and raise the eyebrow in the same act – MIGRENE SURGERY.
Temporal eyebrow lift is used when the patient has a high forehead due to which the endoscopic technique would not be effective.
This technique involves a small incision in the temple area. The surgeon then removes a small excess of skin, which results in the lifting of the eyebrows – primarily its outer edge. This type of surgery is less invasive and does not leave visible scars.
This type of surgery will be used when it is necessary to correct both eyebrows or when it comes to moderate to severe eyebrow drop with pronounced wrinkles and a high forehead.
During this procedure, general anesthesia will be used, and the surgeon will make one incision along the entire forehead line. By lifting the skin, he will get a better insight into the anatomy of the eyebrow muscles and also the muscles that will be lifted and strengthened. The incision is then closed with stitches.
Although this type of procedure is the most invasive, it allows us to easily correct the eyebrows, but also to lower the hairline that we consider high – forehead shortening surgery.
Surgeries usually take about 90 minutes.
Eyebrow lift can be achieved by using a variety of techniques. However, regardless of the method of the procedure, our goal is to provide optimal and long-lasting results.
Our team of surgeons will subsequently assess which type of procedure is best for you and will make a final decision after consulting with you.

After the operation, you will be placed in a recovery room where you will recover from the effects of anesthesia. When the effects of anesthesia wear off, we will release you for home care, which is usually the same day of the operation.
For the first 24 hours after surgery, you will wear a bandage on your forehead that will reduce swelling and bruising in the treated area.
Depending on the type of procedure, recovery can take between 7 and 14 days, after which you come back to us to remove stitches and clips. After removing the stitches, you can return to your daily activities.
Although the first results will be visible in the first few days after surgery, a full view of the results will follow a few months after the procedure.
Eyebrow lift surgery, like any surgical procedure, can cause certain complications and side effects. Most of these side effects are short-lived and can be successfully treated with the intervention of our medical staff.
Here are some of the possible complications of browlift surgery:
When the anesthesia stops working, you will feel pain that can vary depending on the size of the treated area and the type of surgery performed. It is enough to treat the pain with painkillers, and you can reduce swelling by using cold compresses.
Accumulation of blood under the skin can cause bruising. This phenomenon is temporary and usually goes away on its own after a few weeks.
Poorly repaired wounds and irresponsible hygiene after the procedure can increase the risk of bacterial infections on the skin. This phenomenon is treated by cleaning the wound, reinstalling the stitches and using antibiotics.
Although surgeons can accurately assess the appearance of eyebrows after surgery, there is a possibility of improper wound healing that can affect the final shape of the eyebrows. In such circumstances, asymmetries often occur due to which we have to repeat the operation.
Nerve damage is possible when moving the muscle membranes of the eyebrows during surgery. Nerve damage may cause temporary numbness or difficulty moving the eyebrows.
Such conditions usually go away on their own, and the possibility of permanent nerve damage is very small.
