Remove a double chin and neck folds with a proven method that will provide you with long-lasting results and restore a youthful appearance
At the Lohuis Filipović Polyclinic, we perform the increasingly popular necklift surgery, which successfully tightens the skin and neck muscles, restoring a youthful and natural look that will complement your jaw contours and emphasize the smooth texture of the skin.
In an effort to hide the first signs of old age, many of us focus on the face first. Most often, it is the appearance of dark circles or wrinkles, and that is why facial care often comes before anything else.
However, in fact, the neck is where aging signs appear first. Thinner skin and lack of sebaceous glands will make the neck area exposed to various external factors, making it more prone to changes.
Stress, lack of activity, but also poor diet can affect the health and vitality of your skin, and changes such as chin, sagging skin, front vertical line on the neck and other folds are just some of the conditions that can occur as a result of this lifestyle.
Unfortunately, neck care is often overlooked. We often apply face creams and body lotions, but the neck is an area we tend to neglect.
That is why at the Lohuis Filipović Polyclinic we perform the increasingly popular necklift surgery , which successfully tightens the skin and neck muscles, restoring a youthful and natural look that will complement your jaw contours and emphasize the smooth texture of the skin.
Necklift surgery is often performed together with a facelift
Tightening the skin of the neck offers many advantages, and by implementing special techniques, at the Lohuis Filipović Polyclinic, we have made sure that the results of the surgery are visible in the shortest possible period, but also present for years after the procedure.
Some of the main benefits of neck tightening include:
Necklift surgery effectively removes excess skin and fat from the neck.
In addition to tightening the skin, our team of surgeons goes a step further, acting directly on the muscle tissue. By lifting and fixing muscle tissue, we can enhance skin tone and elasticity, but also create the foundation for long-term results.
Vertical lines on the neck are often one of the most prominent areas, especially during warmer days when we wear lighter clothing exposing the neck and lower face.
With necklift surgery, we successfully remove these vertical lines, restoring a smooth texture to your neck and face.
By working beneath the muscle tissue, we reduce bruising and swelling—common after cosmetic surgery. As a result, recovery is faster, and you can return to daily activities after two weeks.
Due to the detailed approach and deep tightening of the skin and muscles, the results of necklift surgery will be visible years after the procedure.
To ensure the best results and reduce risks, we follow a strict preoperative protocol at Lohuis Filipović Polyclinic.
Here are the steps we follow before the procedure:
During the consultation, we’ll explain the surgery, recovery process, and possible side effects.
In addition, during the consultation, we will talk about previous illnesses, allergies and similar experiences in order to gain a better insight and to better prepare for the operation.
Since tightening the skin of the neck is considered a more invasive surgical procedure, it is necessary to carry out laboratory tests. If we notice certain blood disorders, it is necessary to postpone the procedure and find a solution to improve your blood count.
Due to the operation under general anesthesia, it is necessary to perform an ECG. With the ECG recording, we get an insight into your heart function, which will serve as a comparison during the operation by which we will be able to recognize potential arrhythmias or similar issues during the operation.
The evaluation of the anesthesiologist is an important element of preparation for surgery precisely because of the use of general anesthesia. During this evaluation, allergy tests are performed and the possible effects of general anesthesia are discussed.
2-3 days before tightening the skin of the neck, you should stop using drugs that work on blood clotting. Their use can cause bleeding and prolong the recovery period. Avoid medications such as Aspirin, Andol or Ibuprofen.
By following these guidelines, you can expect optimal and long-lasting results of the surgery, but also a shorter recovery that will make you return to your daily activities as soon as possible.
Upon arrival at the polyclinic, we will take you in a special room where you can change your clothes and prepare for the procedure. After a short period, a surgeon from our team will visit you to go through the surgical procedure with you once again.
You’ll then be brought into the operating room and made comfortable before generalanesthesia is administered. Due to the action of general anesthesia, you will not feel any incisions or pain.
The procedure of lifting the skin on the neck is specially adapted to each client.
Whether it’s increased skin folds, excess fat or excessive muscle sagging, our team of surgeons can approach each of these conditions separately to give you the most natural look of the neck.
Necklift surgery is performed using the three most common techniques, some of which are combined to achieve the best possible appearance:
Traditional Necklift Incision
This type of procedure begins with an incision in front of and around the ear and ends at the back of the neck at the hair roots. This incision allows greater access to the subcutaneous tissue, which allows neck tightening to be carried out from multiple angles, emphasizing the jaw lines, but also creating a smooth appearance of the cheeks.
Cut under the chin
This type of surgery, also known as platysmoplasty, is synonymous with the removal of fat tissue in the area under the chin, better known as a double chin.
LF NECKLIFT
Similar to the LF facelift – in the necklift we use surgical techniques where instead of simply tightening the skin, we additionally mobilize the neck muscles – platysma and by lifting them, we get more natural results without scars that last longer.
By applying this technique, the resulting scars will heal much faster because there is no pressure on the surface layers of the skin.
Once the deep tissue of the neck is lifted and fixed, we remove excess skin, and if we see the need to remove adipose tissue, we can also perform liposuction of the neck.
After the procedures, we close the incisions with stitches, after which we place you in the recovery room and wait for you to wake up.
The operation lasts about 120 minutes, depending on the treated area and the chosen technique of the procedure.
You will spend the first 24 hours after the operation in the polyclinic. During this period, you will wear bandages around your face and neck. Bandages are usually removed before going to home care.
For the first week, you will wear supportive wraps or bandages on the affected area, and after 2 weeks you can return to work. Although mild puffiness will still be present, the mobility of the head and neck will be much greater and you will be able to carry out daily activities normally.
As with any surgical procedure, it will take at least a month for a complete recovery.
Tightening the neck, like any surgical procedure, can result in certain complications that often prolong the recovery period, but also affect the effectiveness of the procedure.
Some of the most common risks of necklift surgery include:
An improperly healed wound may allow bacteria to enter and cause infection.
In these circumstances, the appearance of fever, pain and swelling in the place where the incisions are located is possible. Bacterial infections on the skin are usually treated with antibiotics.
A poorly closed wound, but also the use of blood-thinning drugs can prolong the recovery process, slow down wound healing and cause increased bleeding.
If bleeding is noticed at a deeper level under the muscle tissue, it will be necessary to perform the operation again in order to properly repair the wound.
Although the use of a special technique is used to reduce swelling, we must not exclude the possibility of such a side effect. Increased runoff could indicate issues such as infection, or a poorly repaired wound.
There is a chance that by making cuts and tightening the muscles, the facial nerves will be injured, which can result in a loss of sensation on the face. However, in most cases, the sensation returns 2-3 after surgery.
The chance of developing these complications becomes smaller if proper precautions are taken before the procedure and if you follow the instructions and recovery guidelines when the surgery is performed.
At the Lohuis Filipović Polyclinic, we are constantly finding new methods to successfully rejuvenate your face. Among them, the increasingly popular aesthetic procedure of tightening the skin of the neck is also becoming more and more popular.
With the so-called necklift surgery, we successfully restore your face’s youthful and natural appearance by emphasizing the contours of the jaw and neck.
Our option of the most natural face and neck lift – LF face and necklit – deep plane technique is the best version of both procedures – shorter recovery time, natural look and long-lasting result.
With long-lasting results, fast recovery and an adjustable price of neck tightening, necklift surgery is becoming one of the most frequently chosen procedures in our clinic.
