Lip Correction – Liplift

A surgical procedure that restores volume and youthful appearance to your lips

LIP CORRECTION: A SURGICAL PROCEDURE THAT RESTORES VOLUME AND YOUTHFUL APPEARANCE TO YOUR LIPS

Symmetrical, full and even lips can often be one of the most attractive segments on your face.

Symmetrical, full and even lips can often be one of the most attractive segments on your face. Lips with fuller volume have always been evolutionarily more desirable and attractive, appealing to youth, vitality and fertility.

However, with age, weaker collagen production results in slower tissue regeneration, and as a consequence, the red part of the upper lips becomes thinner while the white part of the lip increases. It is the increase in the part of the white lip compared to the red lip that is a sign of aging, not only of the lip – but of the entire face.

If this condition is accompanied by “smoker” wrinkles, the changes in the face can become even more visible, emphasizing your age and significantly affecting your self-confidence in public.

That is why at the Lohuis Filipović Polyclinic we perform lip correction, also known as liplift surgery.

In order to restore volume and a balanced appearance to your lips, we carry out several methods of this procedure, each of which stands out in its own way in an effort to provide the best possible results.

Liplift therapy is a surgical procedure, which means that we can achieve the desired results without the use of aesthetic agents such as Botox or fillers based on hyaluronic acid.

With this approach, we guarantee long-term results, but above all a natural look that will make your lips look “plastic” and artificial.

If we combine quality service, long-lasting effect, but also the price of lip correction, it is not surprising that these procedures are becoming an increasingly common choice for lip rejuvenation.

WHAT ARE ALL THE ADVANTAGES OF LIPLIFT PROCEDURES?

Some of the main advantages of liplift treatments are mostly related to the possibility of choosing various surgical techniques, and due to minimal invasiveness , it is possible to expect the desired results in a very short period.

These are the following benefits of lip surgery:

  • natural look

Liplift treatments differ from hyaluronic fillers by changing the ratio of the white and red parts of the lips. With these methods, we maintain a natural appearance and prevent an inflated or plastic appearance that can occur as a result of an excessive amount of injected fillers.

  • quick recovery

Lip surgery is considered a minimally invasive procedure, which is why the recovery period is shorter.

  • Restoring the volume of the lips

Loss of fullness and volume on the lips is a normal condition that occurs with age. Tissue atrophy over time makes the upper lip thinner and thinner, creating an uneven appearance compared to the lower lip.

With the liplift procedure, we can successfully restore volume to your lips and provide them with a plump and youthful texture.

  • Subsequent corrections

Liplift treatment has proven to be an effective solution in correcting mistakes made after aesthetic procedures such as dermal filler therapy.

There are situations when dermal fillers can cause fibrosis of the tissues on the lips, which would make subsequent filler therapy counterproductive, which is why we rely on a liplift procedure that corrects the resulting reactions on the lips with surgical methods.

  • Durability

Unlike therapies that include the injection of hyaluronic acid, the effect of which often subsides after a few months, the liplift procedure is long-lasting and rejuvenates the entire face.

WHAT DOES THE PREPARATION FOR THE LIPLIFT PROCEDURE LOOK LIKE?

Although it is a relatively short and minimally invasive procedure, it is necessary to follow certain guidelines in order for the procedure to go without any complications.

The process of preparing for lip surgery includes:

  • consultation

At the consultation, we will familiarize you as much as possible with the procedure, the recovery process and possible complications. This is also an opportunity to ask us any questions or raise any doubts related to the treatment.

  • health check

Before performing surgery, we need to check your health condition, medical history, but also possible experiences with similar treatments.

If the liplift treatment is performed as part of a complete facelift, due to the use of general anesthesia, we must perform blood tests and ECG.

  • Examination of the face and lips

This is an unavoidable step in preparing for lip surgery. By examining the face and lips, we note unevenness, asymmetries and assess which method would be most effective for you.

For a detailed analysis, we can take a photo of your face and perform various animations that would give us an overview of the possible results of the surgery.

  • stopping medication

Medications that work on blood clotting can make the procedure and recovery more difficult after lip surgery. The possibility of weaker clotting will prolong the bleeding process, which will prevent the wound from healing properly.

It is recommended to avoid medications such as Aspirin or Andol for at least 2-3 days before the procedure.

WHAT DOES LIP SURGERY LOOK LIKE?

Upon arrival at the polyclinic, we will place you in a recovery room where you will prepare for the operation. Once you have changed, you will be visited by a surgeon from our team to go through the surgery procedure with you once again.

During the conversation, we will prepare the operating room and call you when everything is ready. After you are comfortably seated at the operating table, local anesthesia will be applied and the procedure can begin.

Lip surgery can be performed in a variety of ways. These are some of the most common techniques that we carry out in the polyclinic:

  • Subnasal lip lift

The so-called Bullhorn liplift is performed by making an incision under the nose, after which the central upper part of the lip is lifted to create a more pronounced arch and lift the lip. The surgeon then attaches the skin and muscles in the new position and closes the wound with stitches.

  • Italian type of lip lift

This type of surgery is less invasive than a subnasal lip lift. This technique creates two vertical punctures under each nostril and performs a subcutaneous retraction of the upper lips.

This procedure emphasizes the tips and volume of the lips that coincide with the width of the nose, creating a proportional and regular lip appearance.

  • V-Y Lip Lift

This lip lift technique is performed from the inside, where it tries to “push” the subdermal, mucous tissue, creating a larger volume of the lips.

For a slightly more picturesque metaphor, this process can be compared to pushing a carpet –

pushing the carpet will cause a bulge at the other end.

The same principle can be applied by creating V-shaped seams that give the upper lips volume and an attractive “Y” look.

  • SMAS Injection

Injecting SMAS (superficial muscular aponeurotic system) is a method that uses tissue from other areas of the face to fill the volume of the lips.

Most often, 7x1cm tissue is taken, and the transplanted fat tissue is then cut and shaped according to the surgeon’s assessment.

This type of surgery is performed during a complete facelift, when we perform procedures all over the face anyway.

Each of these methods is effective in its own way, and with an adequate assessment of our surgical team, we decide on the technique that will provide you with the best results.

Operations do not last longer than 60 minutes.

DEEP PLANE LIPLIFT

The specialty of our clinic is that we have developed a new liplift technique – DEEP PLANE LIPLIFT – which now allows us to shape the lip using several types of deep release of lip tissue and its fixation in several places. With this new technique, we have drastically reduced the possibility of scarring from .

WHAT DOES RECOVERY LOOK LIKE AFTER LIP CORRECTION?

Recovery after lip surgery is short, and the occurrence of swelling and bruising is minimal.

A week after the procedure, you come to the polyclinic again to remove the stitches and assess the progress of recovery.

Although lighter physical activities are allowed and even recommended, it will be possible to return to work only after the stitches have been removed.

The full results of the treatment will be visible 7 days after the procedure when the sores and possible swelling disappear.

One of the main advantages of this treatment is that all scars “merge” with the natural lines of the face, which makes them almost invisible.

During recovery, we recommend washing with lukewarm water and avoiding applying creams and other cosmetics to the treated area.

WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE RISKS OF LIP CORRECTION?

Liplift treatment, like any other surgical procedure, can cause certain complications that could affect recovery and the final results of the procedure.

Here are some of the risks of liplift treatment:

  • The most common complication of the ordinary liplift technique, in which the skin is cut out on its own, is a scar in the incision area, which is difficult to repair. On this occasion, we have developed a new technique – LF Deep PLANE LIPLIFT.
  • infection

Improper closure of the incisions can give easier access to bacteria from the environment that can later be responsible for the occurrence of infection. This condition is usually treated with antibiotics and better hygiene.

  • pain

After the anesthesia has loosened, pain is possible in the places where the incisions have formed. Moving your lips can be uncomfortable, but using painkillers will eliminate the pain.

  • bleeding

Bleeding can be present in case of neglected blood disorders or through the consumption of medications that affect blood clotting. In case of continuous bleeding, it will be necessary to repair the treated area again, and in more serious cases, repeat the operation.

  • nerve damage

Nerve damage can occur if the surgeon cuts and injures the nerve near the lip with a tool. Fortunately, this damage is only temporary, and you can feel the complete return of sensation 2-3 weeks after the procedure.

  • asymmetry

The choice of technique, poor wound healing, but also the quality of the surgery performed can affect the formation of lip asymmetries. Such conditions usually have to be treated by repeating the operation.

  • allergic reaction to anesthesia

An allergic reaction to anesthesia is a condition that should not be ignored when performing a surgical procedure, which is why it is necessary to adhere to all precautions before and after the procedure, but also to provide a professional approach during the surgical procedure to achieve optimal results.

I did rhinoplasty along with face tight treatment and the results were more than satisfactory. The guys (Boris and Peter) did everything at the same time, very professionally and in the shortest possible timeframe. I was out of tampons in 2 days, and my bruise recovery does not take longer than 7 days. Very gentle approach. Without unnecessary arrivals, with kind and friendly staff and arranging payments where flexibility was at an enviable level, the impression of service in this clinic is for every recommendation. Of course, I don’t even have to mention that my breathing is better now than before, and my facial skin is smooth and tight without any invasive method. Guys, you are the best. :)

I had unwittingly been suffering from hypopnea for nearly a decade. I did some research and I selected this clinic because it was located in a country where I have many friends. I had already been treated for this by a different physician in Canada, a surgery was done in my nose to remove an obstruction and believed it was better, but I was wrong. The Canadian doctor proposed dealing with the problem by CPAP or further surgeries. Their solution was to remove the first obstacle they find, see if that helps, if not, then remove the next obstacle etc. I had been using caffeine to stay awake, but my physical and mental performance was severely impacted by chronic sleep deprivation. At my first meeting, I was surprised to actually meet Dr. Filipovic, I presumed I would be looked after by an associate Doctor. I explained my suspicions and situation and told him, I do not want to go through multiple procedures to find one that worked. He listened, looked into my nose and proposed that I schedule and undergo a general anaesthesia, where he would be able to insert a camera and record what happens when I actually sleep. In addition I took home a wearable monitor for the night. After these diagnotics, it was found that a mandibular advancement device or CPAP would work for me. CPAP is not good for me because my young children would tear it apart. I had to leave Croatia earlier than planned, when I told his team. They moved heaven and earth to rush the casting, production and shipping of the device to me in Canada. Once I arrived here, his dentist responded to my emails to ensure I had proper guidance on how to adjust and use the device. It works wonderfully and with the clarity of thought that comes from regular sleep, I realized I should have a backup mandibular advancement device made, to use if my device is destroyed by my children. His team again did a wonderful job of using the casting I sent back to produce a 2nd set and ship it to Canada. I have tested the second device for a week now and it works as well as the first. I would highly recommend this team for their professional, courteous and effective effort. If, time & money allows and vanity demands, I would go to this team for a rhinoplasty in the future. Thank you all for improving my quality of life and work performance.

For so long I was dissatisfied with the breathing and the appearance of my nose. Of course the first step was to google rhinoplasty and read comments on forums of the people who did it in Croatia. That did not help because the amount of negative experiences only scared me. But I also read that the most important thing is to find a great surgeon so I finally went to meet with dr. Filipović. I met him, he explained the procedure and answered all my questions. On that first meeting I felt so confident that I even reserved a date for my surgery. Finally in November 2020 I had septorhinoplasty performed by dr. Filipović. They arranged that I stayed in the clinic for one day after the procedure. That really meant a lot, and I'm grateful for that. Recovery went fast and well, I almost had no bruising at all. I'm quite sensitive, so I felt some pain in the first 3 days after, but nothing too bad. It is now 2 months post-op and I look and feel better than ever. The result looks really natural, and it fits my face perfectly. The only regret that I have is that I didn’t do it sooner. Dr. Filipović is a miracle worker, and I will forever be grateful to him and his team.

A month ago, I was on a lip lift with Dr. Filipović. The result is fantastic, as was the experience of consultation and surgery. The doctor and nurses are professional and approachable and inspire confidence. The lip lift turned out great and looks natural, but it's a big enough change that it affected the look of the whole face. The swelling subsided after about a week, and the scar under the nose is visible a month later, but it is not overly conspicuous.
