Laser Vein Surgery

Laser varicose vein surgery does not leave you with any permanent scars, and a return to daily activities is possible immediately after the procedure.

LASER VEIN SURGERY – WHAT IT IS AND WHAT THE PROCEDURE LOOKS LIKE

Varicose veins are an increasingly common health problem today.

The reason for this is the fast life dynamics, long sitting that is included in the description of almost all modern jobs, but also the lack of healthy activities such as exercise or a balanced diet.

If we combine all these factors with genetics, we get a perfect combination of all the criteria that favor the development of this common health problem.

However, new methods of treating varicose veins prove to us that this common case can be solved in a very short period of time, without any complications or unpleasant experience.

One of these methods is laser surgery of varicose veins , which has proven to be the most adequate method of removing varicose veins.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF LASER VARICOSE VEINS SURGERY?

The operation is performed under local anesthesia, and laser technology has enabled a much smaller number of incisions and wounds, which guarantees a faster recovery .

Laser varicose vein surgery does not leave you with any permanent scars, and a return to daily activities is possible immediately after the procedure.

Most important of all, surgery permanently removes all symptoms; Whether it’s visible veins, sluggish and painful legs, redness or itching.

Laser vein surgery eliminates any complications, which is why it is considered one of the safest methods of removing varicose veins.

WHEN DO YOU NEED LASER VARICOSE VEINS SURGERY?

Problems with varicose veins arise once there is increased elasticity of the venous valves. In this case, the veins are no longer able to conduct large amounts of blood and their function is significantly weaker.

Poor vein function causes blood to stay in one place, or even restore blood all the way to the capillaries. The consequence of such action can manifest itself in the form of visible and thickened veins, painful and swollen legs, redness or tightness, and sluggishness during any activities such as standing, walking or running.

If you have a genetic predisposition to varicose veins, you are overweight, you are familiar with hormonal changes or you have experienced multiple pregnancies, you are more likely to develop any cardiovascular diseases, and this includes varicose veins. Laser surgery in this case may be the right solution for you.

If the above criteria disrupt your everyday life, then the best solution is to consult a family doctor who can give you an adequate diagnosis, and then suggest laser vein surgery.

If your goal is to get rid of the problem of varicose veins with as little pain and complications as possible, and faster recovery and return to daily activities, then laser vein surgery is the best solution for you.

WHAT TO DO BEFORE LASER VEIN SURGERY?

At the LF Polyclinic, we will instruct you in all the steps of this routine procedure; From the preparation, the procedure of the operation, all the way to the recovery regimen that you need to follow.

Before the procedure itself, it is necessary to bring laboratory findings, an ECG recording, and prepare additional documentation that indicates other health problems. With these documents, you go for an examination where you give your consent by filling out an anesthesia form.

During the anesthesia examination, you will be instructed about the mode of action of the anesthesia received and the procedures you need to follow before and after the operation.

Some of these guidelines include:

  • Avoiding any food consumption 6 hours before surgery, only drinking water is allowed
  • Three days before surgery, you should not take painkillers that fall into the category of non-steroidal antirheumatic drugs, such as Andol or Aspirin, which thin the blood
  • In the case of pre-existing anticoagulant therapy, it is imperative to inform the doctor
  • After the operation, it is necessary to wear an elastic stocking for up to two weeks, the same as the disappearance of the operative hematoma

Just before the surgery, you will be informed again about the already mentioned guidelines so that we can perform the whole process without any complications and unexpected outcomes.

WHAT DOES LASER VEIN SURGERY LOOK LIKE?

Before entering the operating room, you put on disposable clothes and are given premedication to be as relaxed as possible. A short ultrasound will be performed on the operating table to locate the position of the vein, and then we mark the puncture point and the course of the vein that must be disabled with a marker.

The theory behind laser varicose vein surgery is very simple. Once the varicose vein is found by ultrasound, a probe with a laser at the tip is passed through a small puncture hole in the skin. This probe goes all the way to the mouth of the varicose vein.

Before the laser begins to close the diseased vein, local anesthesia mixed with saline is discharged through the probe to prevent any injuries and wounds caused by the laser temperature.

When the probe is passed to the very mouth of the varicose vein, the laser is turned on, which, due to the high temperature, closes the varicose vein and thus completely prevents its function. The probe gradually closes the venous canal and gently approaches the puncture opening on the skin.

Once the blood flow through the vein is blocked, the probe is pulled out through the opening and the wound is closed. Over time, the incapacitated vein will independently decompose into connective tissue, and the blood will continue to flow through neighboring, healthy veins.

Before laser surgery, this procedure was performed surgically. Although the goal was the same, and that was to disable the work of the diseased vein, the procedure was much more complicated and demanding. The diseased vein, instead of blocking its flow, had to be completely removed.

Such a principle, although effective, resulted in longer recovery and more frequent complications.

Thanks to laser technology, we were able to apply the same methodology, but in a better, faster and safer way.

WHAT DOES RECOVERY AFTER SURGERY LOOK LIKE?

An hour after the operation, you are allowed to leave the clinic and, with an escort, go home.

The main advantage of laser varicose veins surgery is the ability to return to daily activities immediately after surgery.

After the surgery, you get an elastic sock that you need to wear for the next two weeks. An elastic stocking, due to the pressure of the fabric on the surrounding area, helps recovery and facilitates blood flow through the veins.

By wearing a sock, you will speed up the disappearance of hematomas and mild bruises caused during surgery. It should be noted that hematomas are not a cause for concern, they are a normal consequence after almost every operation.

You should wear an elastic sock for the first week for 24 hours, and through the second week it is enough to wear the sock only during the day.

The hole at the injection site disappears after a few days, and any traces of varicose veins disappear immediately after the operation. 2-3 months after the operation, the varicose vein will be part of the connective tissue and even ultrasound will no longer be able to identify it.

Pain after surgery is very rare, but according to some experiences of our clients, you will not need more than 2 painkillers.

Certainly, after a lack of activity, such as sitting or driving, it is recommended to do shorter physical activity so that the circulation does not “laze up” and so that recovery is as fast as possible.

WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE COMPLICATIONS?

If the procedure is performed concretely, with proper cooperation between the client and the doctor, the chances of complications are minimal.

Hematomas that arise as a result of surgery can be painful to the touch, and can also be accompanied by tightening of the skin at the site of the inserted probe. The above symptoms pass while wearing an elastic stocking.

Complications, although very rare, are not impossible. In the event of improper infiltration of the saline solution, damage may occur to the surrounding tissue that has been exposed to the high temperature of the laser.

In addition to damage to the surrounding and adipose tissue, hyperpigmentation is also possible – a change in the color of the skin in the surrounding area affected by surgery. Inflammation of the veins, also known as phlebitis, occurs most rarely.

I did rhinoplasty along with face tight treatment and the results were more than satisfactory. The guys (Boris and Peter) did everything at the same time, very professionally and in the shortest possible timeframe. I was out of tampons in 2 days, and my bruise recovery does not take longer than 7 days. Very gentle […]
