Minimally invasive surgery with fast recovery to solve various gynecological problems
Laparoscopy (LPSC) is a minimally invasive endoscopic surgical technique for solving health problems.
It has become the gold standard in most medical centers for solving certain health problems, especially in gynecology.
By allowing surgeons to access internal organs through small incisions, this innovative approach has revolutionized the way surgeries are performed around the world.
Laparoscopy is used to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions.
This avoids major postoperative wounds, damage to the muscles and ligaments of the abdominal wall, which shortens the hospital stay and accelerates postoperative recovery
Laparoscopic surgery is performed under general anesthesia and lasts from twenty minutes to several hours, depending on the extent of the procedure.
A better image of the operating field with a camera also enables more precise surgical procedures in “sensitive areas” with as few complications and risks as possible characteristic of surgeries performed in the classic way.
Minor cuts
The laparoscopic procedure requires only small incisions in the skin, resulting in less visible scars and faster recovery.
Minimal soreness
Since laparoscopy allows for smaller incisions, there is less damage to the surrounding tissue and faster wound healing after the procedure. Patients experience less pain after laparoscopy compared to traditional surgical techniques.
Faster recovery
Thanks to smaller incisions and less tissue trauma, patients usually recover faster after laparoscopy and can return to daily activities earlier.
Lower risk of complications
Laparoscopy reduces the risk of complications such as infections and bleeding, making this approach safer for patients.
Laparoscopy in gynecology is used to diagnose and treat a range of conditions and diseases related to the reproductive system. The benefits of laparoscopy in gynecology are manifold.
In addition to a less invasive approach and faster recovery, laparoscopy allows surgeons to better visualize the reproductive organs and manipulate the tissue more precisely.
Laparoscopy is used for diagnostic purposes in the treatment of infertility, namely to examine the patency of the fallopian tubes (blowing or chromopertubation of the fallopian tubes).
With laparoscopy, it is possible to detect the presence of endometriosis, scars or adhesions that can block the fallopian tubes or damage to the ovaries.
It is also used to free the fallopian tubes from adhesions in the abdominal cavity (adhesiolysis), insight into the appearance of the uterus and ovaries in various developmental anomalies.
The procedure, called LPSC cystectomy, is used to remove cysts and ovarian tumors, such as endometrioma, dermoids, fibromas.
It is a conservative procedure that aims to remove only cysts and tumors with the best possible preservation of functional ovarian tissue.
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) leads to many problems such as irregular menstrual cycles, increased bleeding, and weight gain.
Treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome is complex and includes several different therapeutic procedures, depending on the cause of the disease.
One option is ovarian laparoscopy, known as LPSC ovarian drilling, which reduces the number of follicles that contain an increased amount of male sex hormones.
Laparoscopic ovarian surgery solves problems related to the hormonal function of the ovaries and the regularity of menstrual cycles under the influence of excess male sex hormones in the ovary.
The high precision of laparoscopy makes this procedure suitable for the removal of malignant changes in the reproductive organs.
As the operation is performed with optical aids that allow a more precise insight into changes, as well as solving them, it is increasingly used in gynecological oncology
Laparoscopy is used for diagnostic purposes in resolving doubts obtained during preoperative treatment, diagnosing pelvic endometriosis, finding the cause of acute and chronic abdominal pain, taking preparations for further processing (organ biopsies), etc.
In addition to the above procedures, laparoscopy is also used to solve inflammatory changes in the ovaries and fallopian tubes. LPSC removal of ectopic pregnancy, which most often develops in the fallopian tube, is also performed.
For surgical removal of uterine fibroids, the so-called laparoscopic myomectomy is performed – the removal of benign tumors made of uterine muscle cells.
If necessary, it is possible to perform laparoscopic removal of the uterus, LPSC hysterectomy. The technique is also used to deal with a drooping uterus and bladder.
Laparoscopy in gynecology is very widely used in diagnosing and treating various diseases of the reproductive system.
This minimally invasive surgical approach allows surgeons to access the reproductive organs through small incisions in the abdomen, using a laparoscopic camera and special surgical instruments.
It represents a precise surgical technique that brings many benefits in the form of faster recovery for patients.
Laparoscopy is performed under general anesthesia, so it is necessary to take appropriate measures before the procedure.
To begin with, it is necessary to do a preoperative treatment that includes laboratory blood tests, ECG, X-ray of the heart and lungs if necessary.
Finally, it is necessary to perform an examination by an anesthesiologist who, based on the aforementioned tests and clinical examination, will decide whether the patient is ready for surgery.
It is necessary to come to laparoscopy on an empty stomach, i.e. without taking food and liquids by mouth for the last 8 hours, which usually means after midnight before the procedure.
Thanks to the laparoscopic technique, recovery is much faster, simpler and easier. Of course, it all depends on the extent of the surgery and possible complications during the procedure.
Since surgical wounds are not large, complications in the incision area are rare after laparoscopy. This allows for quick restoration of normal functioning, such as going to the toilet and walking lightly with much less pain than with conventional surgical procedures.
It is necessary to wait two to three weeks after the procedure for sexual intercourse, and moderate physical activity is possible after two weeks.
Return to normal physical activities is possible 6 to 8 weeks after laparoscopy.
As with any surgical procedure, there are possible risks or complications with laparoscopy. Reactions to anesthesia, the occurrence of infection, bleeding during or after surgery are possible.
However, with this type of procedure, the possibility of complications is extremely low, from 1 to 3%. If complications arise during the procedure, most of them can be resolved during the laparoscopy itself.
Only in more difficult situations is laparoscopy interrupted and the abdominal wall is opened in the classic way (conversion of laparoscopic surgical technique into laparotomy).
Laparoscopy is generally a safe procedure, with careful performance following health protocols and the extensive experience and expertise of our medical staff, risks are minimized.
