FACS, specialist in otolaryngology, head and neck surgery
Dr. Žižić was born in Split, where she finished high school. She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zagreb in 2000 with an average grade of 4.74. She specialized in otorhinolaryngology at the Clinical Hospital Center Zagreb. During specialist training, she certified her diploma for work in the United States of America, passing the necessary exams: Step1, Step 2 CK (Clinical Knowledge) and Step 2 CS (Clinical Skills), obtaining the ECMFG Certificate (ECFMG – Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates). She completed a one-year specialization in thyroid and parathyroid surgery at Harvard University, Boston, USA (Clinical Fellow in Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery). In Zagreb, she completed a narrow specialization in plastic surgery of the head and neck. She obtained the title of Doctor of Science in Zagreb at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zagreb.
In addition to Harvard University, she received professional and scientific training at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, USA, the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, USA, and the Saint Luc University Hospital, Brussels, and the University of Louvain, Belgium.
Dr. Žižić is the author of a large number of scientific and professional papers at national and international conferences and co-author of several textbooks. She participated in the scientific project of the Ministry of Science of the Republic of Croatia Inverted papilloma of the nose and sinuses – a model of carcinogenesis. Dr. Žižić is the winner of the Rector’s Award for the best student scientific paper, the award for the best professional paper at the “World Meeting of Young ENT practitioners”, St Petersburg, Russia, the award for the best professional paper of the American-Austrian Society and Weil-Cornell University.
Dr. Žižić is a regular member of the Croatian Society for Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery, the Croatian Medical Association, the Croatian Society for Audiology and Phoniatrics, the Croatian Society for the Management of Difficult Airway, and the American College of Surgeons (FACS-Fellow, American College of Surgeons).
Her main areas of work and professional and scientific interest are head and neck surgery, thyroid and parathyroid gland surgery, intraoperative electrophysiological monitoring of the vagus nerve and recurrent nerve, snoring and obstructive sleep apnea surgery, aesthetic medicine, audiology and vestibulology.
